THE PARTNERS

Watkins and Tasker Veterinary Group is a partnership owned by vets Liz Watkins and Steve Tasker, who have a combined experience of over 40 years of veterinary practice.

Liz Watkins BVSc MRCVS

Liz qualified from Bristol University Vet School and has worked in this practice for over 25 years becoming the owner in 1990.

With extensive experience in small animal practice, Liz enjoys a mixed caseload including medical and surgical cases.

She has 3 children: Peter is a dispensing optician (and budding entrepreneur!), Catherine works at the Veterinary School of the University of Bristol, and Andrew is still at school. She has 2 cats, Kitten (now quite elderly!) and Ash, who was a rescue kitten brought into the surgery at 3 weeks old.  When she is not involved in her varied working and family activities, Liz and husband Bill share a passion for horses. They own two: Oscar, who she rides and competes herself in dressage, and Torzo, an eventer, who has outgrown Liz’s ability and is now ridden by professional rider Selina Elliot, who is based in Yatton. Torzo has risen through the grades and is now an advanced event horse, regularly and successfully competing against national team horses, both in England and abroad.

Steve Tasker BVSc MRCVS

Steve also qualified from Bristol University Vet School, and followed a varied career working with animals from cats and dogs to cows, sheep and horses, in England and Scotland, before settling back in the SouthWest in 2000. He became a partner in the practice in 2002.

Steve is actively involved with a major veterinary charity, the British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), who promote high standards of veterinary care across the UK and further afield. BSAVA hosts an annual Congress educating vets from all corners of the globe, and Steve is the Organiser of the Commercial Exhibition, a major forum for veterinary commercial companies, which runs alongside Congress and fills the Birmingham National Indoor Arena for a week each year.

When not at work, Steve enjoys spending time with his wife, their two young children and the cats, Boris and Chloe. He plays 5 a side football, misses playing rugby, and enjoys biking and holidays in France with compulsory wine tasting
