What is it?
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) is the regulatory body for vets in the UK, and its voluntary Practice Standards Scheme is an initiative to promote and maintain the highest standard of veterinary care. For a vet practice of our type there are 2 possible levels to reach.
How did we qualify?
We have reached and surpassed the required standards, and following an inspection by a RCVS veterinary inspector we have attained the highly regarded Tier 2 level Accreditation. We will be rigorously inspected every 4 years, and the inspectors can make spot checks at any stage!
Why did we do it?
We know the standard of care that we deliver on a daily basis, and we feel that the Practice Standards Scheme demonstrates to our clients in an unbiased way our genuine commitment to high standards of veterinary care. The inspection covers everything that goes on in our practice, from our facilities being up to date and our premises being fit for purpose and spotlessly clean, to our staff being enrolled into an ongoing programme of professional development, and our practice management systems being robust and professional.
RCVS Accreditation means that as a client you can rest assured that our practice offers a high quality of care - in those bits of the practice you can see - and those that you can't. All 3 of our practices have been accredited as (Tier2) RCVS General Practice for Domestic Animals. This means that in addition to complying with the level 1 'Core Standards', such as health and safety, hygiene and legal requirements and the provision of 24 hour cover, we also have laboratory facilities for diagnostic testing, have a system for monitoring the outcome of treatments and show commitment to the education and training of our staff..
