working closely with you to enhance your pet’s quality of life

The Vets

In addition to the partners, there are three other vets in the practice Di Rees, Laura Sullivan and Mario Amaral.  All our veterinary staff are highly motivated, compassionate and continually work with us to provide the best of care for your pets, our patients.

All our vets keep up to date through regular courses to ensure we provide you with the latest treatment options and techniques for keeping your pets safe and healthy.

We provide a high quality, caring service for your pet's veterinary needs throughout the whole of his or her lifetime. Communication and information are very important; we will keep you informed at every step of the way.

Di Rees BVetMed MRCVS

Di qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 1988, and worked in small animal practice in the West Midlands until moving to Somerset 5 years ago. She joined Watkins and Tasker in May 2008 and is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially rabbits and ''small furries''.

Di has adopted numerous pets over the years. At the moment she has an elderly cat, four rabbits and two guinea pigs.

In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit by going to kick-boxing, boxercise classes and by running. She also enjoys the more relaxing pursuits of gardening and cooking.

Di Rees BVSc., MRCVS

Di has a lovely bedside manner, and a great attitude to her work, which she loves. She is primarily based at our Nailsea and Portishead surgeries.

Laura Sullivan BVetMed MRCVS

Laura Sullivan BVetMed MRCVS

Laura qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2009, and after locuming as a vet for a short while moved to Somerset to join Watkins and Tasker Vets.

She is a very enthusiastic and committed vet, and is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine. She enjoys the varied caseload each day brings, and working up each case thoroughly to find the root of the problem. Laura is developing special interests in surgery, and attends seminars regularly to keep up to date with the latest advances in veterinary medicine.

In her spare time, Laura enjoys cooking, scuba diving and spending time with friends, family and her gorgeous Cocker Spaniel, Charlie. After eventually joining the gym(!) she enjoys swimming, boxercise and aerobics, but most importantly the spa! She very much looks forward to getting to know you and your pet, and is based at our Nailsea and Yatton branches.

Mario Amaral

Mario qualified over 10 years ago and hails from Portugal. He is an excellent small animal veterinary surgeon with extensive veterinary hospital experience who has been working in Bristol for a good number of years.

He has particular interests in small animal internal medicine and a strong interest in exotic medicine, from small furries to tortoises and parrots. He is looking forward to working with us, and replaces Andy Fullerton (who has gone off to spend a brief spell working in London before travelling the world!)

Mario lives locally, has a wife who is also a vet currently working in the clinical diagnostic labs at Langford, and they have a young daughter.

In his spare time, Mario enjoys spending time with his wife, young daughter, and pets - Migalha the "small" Great Dane, and Oscar the cat. He also enjoys mountain biking, running and swimming.
