Vet Team

Claire W

Group Head of Nursing & Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined Watkins and Tasker Vets in 2005 after completing my Veterinary Nursing Degree. I have managed the Portishead branch as Head Nurse for 10 years and am now our Group Head of Nursing.

My role alongside nursing duties is to support the nursing teams and ensure we always provide the highest level of care to your pets. I am responsible for continuing the development of the nurse team professional skills and knowledge plus also looking after the team’s wellbeing. I am a Mental Health First Aider. The practice has grown a lot since I first started but I love that we have kept the friendly, family atmosphere that makes our staff, clients and pets feel at home.

At home I have two young football obsessed boys, three cats; Kevin, Pig and Doris, ‘Mr Sausage’ the Syrian hamster and a husband who is very understanding that my role has never quite been 9-5.”

I started at Watkins and Tasker Vets in 2016 as a Receptionist and progressed over the years to become a qualified Veterinary Nurse in 2019. I enjoy all aspects of the job, especially looking after our exotic patients and small furries. I have completed my Certificate in Veterinary Nursing of Zoo and Exotic Species to enhance my passion for small furries and scaley patients.

At home, I am kept busy with my own collection of small animals and a very mischievous tortoise, Don Juan.

Carol A

I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse who joined the team in 2006.  I have worked in a variety of roles within the Practice and I enjoy all aspects of veterinary nursing but have a special interest in helping our more nervous patients overcome their fears with socialisation clinics and our Puppy Academy.

When I am not working as a nurse helping to care for your pets, I spend most of my free time walking, training and competing at agility with my Border Collie, Mayhem, or snuggling on the sofa with my Birman cat, Mr Paddy Paws.

Jody H

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been working within practice for over 12 years but joined Watkins and Tasker Vets at the Nailsea site in 2014. After qualifying in 2016, and returning after having my third child, I worked at the Portishead Practice. This allowed me to further my clinical skills and become a clinical coach. I really enjoy helping the next generation of vet nurses and love passing on helpful tips that I have learnt along the way.

Outside of work I am kept busy with my three young children, husband, chickens, two cats and our two rescue tortoises. If I do get any spare time, I enjoy running and horse riding. I am currently on maternity leave following the birth of my son.

Amy T

Registered Veterinary Nurse

I joined the Watkins and Tasker Vets team in February 2020 as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I have worked in Practice since 2009 and gained my qualification in 2014.

My main interests are inpatient care, clinical coaching and carrying out nurse consults. I am currently studying towards my Medical Nursing Certificate, so I can further develop my skills in this area.

I enjoyed being a locum and working with the team so much that I decided to stay as a permanent member of staff!

I love all aspects of nursing but my favourite part has to be in-patient care. There is nothing more rewarding than nursing poorly in-patients back to health so they can be reunited with their families again.
